Wounded Beauty

Our garden is home to vibrant orange Mexican sunflowers (Tithonia), adored by monarchs. When I captured butterfly in a photo, little did I know it was wounded. But the image moved me, celebrating its imperfection and charm. 

The piece was painted on an 8x10 clayboard with mixed media. It is framed in a narrow 8.5" x 10.5" black float frame sprayed with an archival fixative. Ready to hang.
